Mr. Abraham Chambers Jr., 74, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Candler Hospital.
He was the oldest son of the late Abraham Chambers, Sr. and Bertha Mae Chambers. He was born in Cottondale, Florida on March 26, 1935. He moved to Quincy, Florida at an early age, where he grew up and worked as a farm worker until retirement.
Abraham attended Springfield AME Church in Quincy until he moved to Tampa with his sister Ola, who then became his caretaker. Later they moved to Richmond Hill, Georgia where he attended Fellowship of Love Community Church of Christ.
Abraham never married and has no children but leaves to mourn his lost: seven brothers, John Chambers (Linda) of Atlanta, GA, James Chambers of Asbury Park, NJ, Andrew Chambers (Nancy) of Atlanta, GA, Leonard Chambers (Catherine) of Atlanta, GA, Jimmy Chambers of Largo, FL, Willie Chambers (Wendy) of St. Petersburg, FL, and Theodore Chambers of St. Petersburg, FL; four sisters, Wanda Daniels of Miami, FL, Dorothy Belvin of Quincy, FL, Emma Austin (Al) of St. Petersburg, FL, and Ola Dixon of Richmond Hill, GA; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services for Abraham Chambers will be held 2:00 PM Monday, May 9, 2009 at Fellowship of Love Community Church, 1402 Harmon Street, Pastor Larry S. Murray, officiating.
