Albert George Canady, 84, a native of Savannah, he was born on August 1, 1931, and entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 6, 2016, following a brief illness. Albert was a pipe fitter and member of Local Union 188. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and attended church school as a young boy.
Albert was known to some as, Catfish, to others as Pee Gee or Pete, but to his girls he was just Daddy. He loved his four daughters, Cathy, Debbie, Brenda and Donna and he worked hard to provide for them. His work ethic lives on today in each of them. He was known as Big Papa to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, crabbing, hunting and collecting coins. His favorite song was “In the Garden” and he loved his dog, Little Man.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Harry A. Canady and Maude S. Canady Amerson; sister, Caroline G. Canady and brother, Walter M. Canady. Surviving are his daughters, Cathy Canady Moore (Eddie) of Savannah, GA, Debbie Canady Maxwell (David) of Richmond Hill, GA, Brenda Canady Witt (Grover Russell) of Lexington, SC and Donna Canady Garcia (David) of Tucumcari, NM; six grandchildren, Thomas Sherrod (Karla), Myriah Shoemaker Fitts (Matthew), Chantel Maxwell Love (Matthew), Ashley Katherine Witt, David Moses Garcia, Jr. and Noah Thomas Garcia, eight great grandchildren, Darean Sherrod, Uli Bier, Zane Sherrod, Declan Sherrod, Elijah Fitts, Ethan Fitts, Ezra Fitts and Ramey Love and one brother, Thomas H. Canady (Charles), of Blue Ridge, GA, several cousins, nieces, nephews and caretaker, Rhonda Davis.
Visitation will be held at Baker McCullough Funeral Home – Hodgson Chapel,(formerly Fairhaven Funeral Home), 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, on Wednesday, March 9, from 5:00pm- 7:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 10, at 1:00 pm at Baker McCullough Funeral Home – Hodgson Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
