Alex Theodore Kolgaklis (Kole), 85 of Savannah passed away Monday, May 9th, 2016 at Manor House.
A native of Savannah, Georgia, he was the son of the late Theodore Kolgaklis and Kyratsoula Sotiriou Kolgaklis. Alex was a Graduate of Savannah High School and of the University of Georgia. He was a veteran of the Air Force having served during the Korean War.
He was a clerk for over 30 years for various hotel chains including Holiday Inn and the Knights Inn in Richmond Hill. Alex was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church. He enjoyed collecting model cars, stamps, and coins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Anthula Vergas, Kalliope Stevens, Mary Kolgaklis, Arthur Kolgaklis and Anagyros “Naju” Kolgaklis.
Survivors include a cousin, Kim Kolgaklis (Faye), his nephews and nieces, Jimmy Stevens (Deena), James Vergas (Sophie), Kay Litchfield, Ted Kolgaklis (Becky), Mary Roy (Gene), Ethel Mackrell (Michael), and Tina Coyle ( Richard).
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday at St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church with a Trisagion service beginning at 7:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, May 12th, 2016 at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church, with Father Vasile Mihai officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
