Annie Lou Sills Ward, age 89, died Tuesday evening at Hospice Savannah surrounded by her loving family.
Annie was born in Rocky Ford, GA on April 10, 1922 to the late Walter E. Sills and Eunice Williams Sills. She was a very well known seamstress in the downtown area and was co-owner of Drayton Tailor Shop, along with her sister Genevieve Waldhauer. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Ira “Dick” Ward, a daughter, Sandra W. Grantham and a grandson, Roy A. Read, one brother and three sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara W. Read and husband Daniel of Roanoke, VA, a special granddaughter and her caregiver for the last 10 years, Janet Larson Smoot and husband Lee of Savannah and a great-great-granddaughter, Trinity Read, also surviving are her grandchildren, D.J. Morgan, Toby Read, Jocey Read, Chevy Ready, Billy Messex, Dennis Page, Bobby Page, a sister, Genevieve W. Waldhauer of Savannah, and several nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held Monday June 27th, 2011.
