Mr. Benjamin Devoe was born on February 4, 1929 to Mr. Nathaniel Devoe and Mrs. Francina Jones in Savannah, Georgia. Mr. Devoe transitioned to his heavenly home on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Tara at Thunderbolt Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Educated in the Savannah public schools, Mr. Devoe graduated from Cuyler-Beach High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country well. Once Mr. Devoe retired from the military, he returned to Savannah and matriculated at Savannah State College as a Business Administration major.
He was employed at Scott Concrete Pipe Company for thirty-four years. He served as a supervisor in his department.
Left behind to cherish his memories are: sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Frances Devoe Floyd of Baltimore, Maryland; a devoted daughter, Betty (Robin)Devoe Terrell; three sons, Benjamin Anthony Devoe (Linda) of Irrington, New Jersey, Col. (Ret.) Raymond Devoe (Sharon) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Eugene Devoe of Atlantic City, New Jersey; stepdaughter, Mary Brockington of Hillside, New Jersey; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Devoe will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams & Williams Funeral Home, 1012 East Gwinnett Street.
Internment will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 in Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort, South Carolina.
