Betty Jean Crawford

Betty Jean Crawford, age 70, passed away peacefully May 14, 2020. She was born September 18, 1949, in Savannah, Georgia, to Edward Morris Crawford (deceased) and Mackdew Tolbert Crawford (deceased). She was the middle sister to Marie Crawford Quinn and Emily Crawford Sanders. Betty received her education in Savannah Public Schools and Beach High School. She attended Savannah State College, where she was a double major (Library Science and Elementary Education). Betty dedicated 40 years of teaching elementary school as a lead teacher and retired as a Kindergarten teacher at East Broad Elementary School in Savannah, Georgia. After retirement, she traveled to many places and dedicated her time volunteering at East Broad Elementary School. Betty Loved children, taught Sunday school at Bolton Street Baptist Church, where she was also the Sunday school musician and director of the men's choir. Her servant's heart led Betty to serve at Grant Chapel Presbyterian Church in Darian, Georgia, and Holy Spirit Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Savannah, Georgia, where she was a member of choir and musician assistant. Betty was a dedicated aunt, first and foremost. She treasured her niece and Nephews and embraced every moment with them. She also was a wonderful sister, friend, and colleague. Betty is survived by her sisters Marie Crawford Quinn (Frank) and Emily Crawford sanders (Jimmie), niece, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephew, and cousins. Please join us in celebrating her life Tuesday, May 19, 2020, between 6 pm-8 pm at Williams and Williams Funeral Home. In place of flowers, please give donations to Bolton Street Baptist Church or Holy Spirit Lutheran Church (ELCA).
