Betty B. Futch

April 3, 1938 — September 13, 2021

Betty B. Futch a native of Walterboro, Sc and the ninth chlid of ten children to the late Ben and Victoria Bodison. She received her early education in Walterboro, Sc and moved to Savannah after graduating High School to attend Savannah State University formerly Savannah State College. After receiving a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education she taught in the public school system for a short period. Later taking a Library Associate position at Chatham-Effingham Liberty Regional Libraries which is now Live Oak Public Libraries. She retired from the Carnegie Branch Library after 27 years of service. Betty joined St. Paul CME Church under the pastorate of Rev. J.L. Key. She has served in the following capacities: Senior Usher's, Stewardess Board I, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and the St Paul C.M.E Community Senior Citizens for many years. Because of her love for books and her Sunday School, Betty served as librarian for the W.J. Dixon, Sr. Sunday School for a number of years. She has served as a volunteer reader at Georgia Reading Raido for the visually impaired and Candler Hospital. She is a lifetime member of the NAACP, member of SSU Alumni Association and the Cuyler-Brownsville Neighborhood Association.Betty leaves to cherish her memories a daughter Deidra Royal, brother Rev. Dr. John L. Bodison, Two Step-Sons,Charles Futch, and Larry Burwell both deceased, Eleven Step grandchildren and twelve great grand children. A host of nieces, nephews cousins sisters inlaw companion doggie Logan. Graveside service will be held 1pm Friday September 17, 2021 at Magnolia Memorial Gardens public viewing Thursday, 2-6pm at Bonaventure Funeral
