She was born on June 25, 1931 in Sylvania, Georgia, the daughter of the late Jud and Bertie Hines Rountree.  She worked in retail sales at Sears Roebuck for many years.  After she retired from Sears, she was able to follow Roy around the world, taking her to places his job led them.  Cathryn was an active member of White Bluff Methodist church for over 50 years.  Gardening was a passion, and you could find her outside in her yard most of the time.  A wonderful mother and grandmother, Cathryn was the backbone of her family, and will be greatly missed. She was also predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers, Winfred and Rodney Rountree, and a sister, Reba Rountree Jenkins.  Survivors include her son Bill Smoak and his wife Debbie of Savannah, and her daughter Cathy Holland of Clayton, GA.  She had 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren that were the center of her world, as well as several nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. The family would like to thank her church members and neighbors for their frequent visits, and as well as the caring, diligent staff at Pruitt-Health and Pruitt-Hospice.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pruitt Health, Pruitt-Hospice or the Alee Temple. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o’clock, Friday, at Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel, Savannah. The funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock, Friday, in the chapel of the funeral home conducted by the Reverend John Haney. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Savannah.
