Charles (Charlie) Eldridge Lloyd, Jr. of Savannah, GA ,passed away at Memorial Hospital on Sunday, May 8, 2016 after a long illness.
Charles was born in Savannah in 1936 and grew up on Long Island. He attended The Wooster School, Avon Old Farms & Adelphi University.
He proudly served in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Dix, NJ.
Charles had a career in Advertising and Finance in New York and Atlanta. He retired as a publishing editor for a number of financial magazines.
In his retirement, he returned to his beloved Savannah where he lived on Skidaway Island.
He was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed his Sunday School class and the friendships he encountered there. He found much joy in volunteering at Calvary Day School. Charles enjoyed advising students with the layout of the yearbook and working security detail with his friends.
He liked to talk. He liked to walk. He was an avid fan of the GA Bulldogs. His favorite restaurants were Chick-fil-A and Longhorn, where he was a regular.
He is preceded in death by his parents, C. Eldridge Lloyd, Sr. & Bessie Robinson Lloyd and sister, Elizabeth Devendorf. He is survived by his niece and nephew, great-niece and several cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00 pm, Thursday, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home – Savannah.
Interment will be at Hillcrest Abbey – East.
