Mrs. Clara Louise Ross Greene was born in Claxton, Georgia on May 14, 1924, to the parentage of Jesse and Birda Howell Ross. After the early demise of her parents she ws reared by her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Elias (Clara) Miles in Holy Trinity, Alabama.
Mrs. Greene was employed as a baker for the Savannah Board of Education for more than thirty years, leaving her mark for others to carry on when she retired in 1986. She was the quintessential First Lady as she supported her husband's Ministry in the AME Church. Additionally, she has been a member of St. Phillips A.M.E. Church for over 55 years.
Clara Louise Ross Greene, 88, beloved wife of Rev. Thomas Greene, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013.
Mrs. Greene is preceded in death by: her parents, her husband of 56 years, Reverend Thomas J. Greene; daughter, Veronica Ross; siblings, Tommie Ross, Carrie Bell Marks, Blanche Johnson, Jack Ross, Gertha Mae Early and Claudean R. Bryant.
She is survived by her son, John Ross (Lanetta); granddaughters, Jacy Y. Walls, and Joyceln C. Lawrence (Kevin); great grandson, Josh Walls; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Her favorite pastime was spending time with family anf friends, and maintaining her impeccable home in elegant order.
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Ross Greene will be held at 11:00 AM from St. Phillip A.M.E. Church, 613 M.L.K., Jr. Blvd. Interment, Hillcrest Abbey West. Reposing at the church from 9:00 AM until hour of service.
