David Mitchell Hanson was born to Marian Stotz and Laurence Carroll Hanson on October 16, 1972 in Atlanta, Georgia. He had a huge heart and would do anything for you if he could. He was an intellectual with good opinions on many topics - he loved to debate!
David achieved Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts. He attended Marist School in Atlanta and graduated from Savannah Country Day School in 1991. David went on to Swarthmore College and spent a year at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.
After school David spent time acting and stagehanding at the Walnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia and acted and wrote plays as a member of an independent drama group, first in Philadelphia and then in NYC, before returning to Savannah.
David's passions were reading, gardening, drawing, acting, writing, and cooking. He loved his family: brother Robert Hanson, Aunt Flo Chase, Aunts and Uncles Sue and Don Hanson, Maureen and Alan England, Beverly and Tim Fricks, and many cousins. Also loved as family were the cats Kitten Bear and Seamus and all of David's wonderful neighbors and their pets at the Herty Lofts.
Everywhere he went, David had a friend and he embraced those friends. We miss him already - he didn't have enough time here with us!
The family will receive friends in a Celebration of Life on Monday, July 21st from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bonaventure Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 22nd at 10:00 AM from The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, with interment to follow at Catholic Cemetery.
