Dennis Martin Swart of Savannah, GA, died Monday, January 4, 2016 at Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 9, 1945 in Mount Morris, Michigan, to the late Floyd William Swart and the late Maxine Marion Goodrich Swart. Dennis served his country in the United States Army which eventually led him to his wife, Brenda, and their home in Savannah. After leaving the military he worked for Emco, then Carlton Company, and finally Thompson Lift Truck for 25 years in equipment part sales and service until he retired.
He was an active member of Isle of Hope Baptist Church for 45 years where he served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Swart is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Brenda Gail Ambrose Swart, his son Michael Allen Swart and his wife Susan and children Talon, Collin, and Amber; his son Scott Derek Swart; his sister Shelly Hampton and her partner Diana Martin and their family; his sister Kay Deloney and her husband Bill and their family; and brother Craig Swart and his family. Also left behind are his special nieces Rose Marie Morris and her daughter Heather and nephew Colby Ambrose and many other wonderful family members.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7, from 5 until 6 pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel. The memorial service will be held following the visitation in the funeral home chapel.
