Donald “OG” Sanders transitioned to be with the Lord on January 23, 2025. He was born to Walter and Bessie Lee Sanders on May 9, 1951, in Savannah, GA.
Donald grew up in Savannah, GA where he attended Moses Jackson Elementary and Middle school. He graduated from Gifford High School in 1969. Donald’s ambition in high school was to become an Auto Mechanic which is one of the positions that he held in the Army.
After graduating high school, Donald moved to Chicago, IL and worked for the Post Office. He later enlisted in the United States Army. During his 22 years in the Army, he received many awards.
After retiring from the Army, Donald continued to work. His saying was “I got to be making my money.” He made sure his family and friends were provided for and no matter the circumstances, he was always there to help.
Donald “OG” Sanders is deeply missed but we know God needed him most. He’s celebrating his heavenly homecoming with parents, Walter Sanders, and Bessie Lee Sanders-Bush; grandparent Marie Williams; brothers Walter Sanders Jr., Edward Sanders, Thomas Sanders (Shake) and Arthur Lee Sanders (Dede); sisters Barbara Jean Howard (Wesley), Georgia Vasser (Edwin), Lavon Grant (Larry), Louvenia Ferguson (Donald) and Annie Lee Wesley.
He leaves to cherish his memory, sisters: Carol Sanders, Lillian Sanders-Eteng (Ebri) and Jacquelyn Canty (Steve), and brother Willie Sanders as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 72 Ristona Dr, Savannah, GA 31419 from 2 pm to 4 pm.
