Edith Hagins

April 26, 1935 — March 17, 2012

Edith Bernita Singleton Hagins went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2012, in Savannah, GA. She was a native of Savannah, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Angela Singelton and sister, Emily Singelton Chisholm.

Mrs. Hagins graduated from Woodville High School in 1955. She earned a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from Savannah State University and taught in the Chatham County Public School System for nineteen years.

Mrs. Hagins was a lifetime member of St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. church.

Mrs. Hagins is survived by two daughters, Rene' Owens LeMaitre (Garvin), of Atlanta, GA and LaTonya Hagins Welch of Savannah, GA; three brothers, Leroy Singelton, Jr.(Pauline), Harold Singelton (Serdalia), and Walter Singelton, Sr. (LaRosa) of Savannah, GA; three sisters, Rosemary S. Whitson, of Bowie, MD, Pearl S. Reddick of Savannah, GA, and Carol S. Montgomery of Fairburn, GA; two grandchildren, Renata Milton of Riverdale, GA, and Daniel Le Maitre of Atlanta, GA; three great grandchildren; god-daughter, Stephanie Taylor Mahone of Atlanta, GA; an uncle; two aunts; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 7:30 ~ 8:30 PM, Friday, March 23, 2012 at Williams & Williams Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 24, 2012 at St. Phillip Mon. A.M.E. Church, 1112 Jefferson Street, Savannah, GA, with the Rev. George Moore, Jr., Pastor.
