Our beloved Elizabeth Louise Mitchell was born on March 16, 1943 in Savannah, Georgia to the late Andrew Henry and Louise Rawls.
She received her GED and decided to further her education at both Savannah Vocational Technical School and South College where she received a diploma in Clothing and Design, and South College where she received her Nurse's license. Sister Mitchell enjoyed her profession as a Nurse's assistant for which she showed great compassion for her patients and went above and beyond the call of duty as she tended to the sick.
Sister Mitchell was greatly known for her dedication as a Christian and her deep love for the Lord.
Elizabeth was married to Benjamin Mitchell whom preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving children, Craig Fitzgerald Smith of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Michelle Taylor of Warner Robins, Georgia, Sophia Lopez of Savannah, Georgia and Carlette Solomon of Jacksonville, Florida; step-daughter, Sharon Chisholm of Savannah, Georgia; son-in-law, Rev. Franseko Lopez of Savannah, Georgia ; duaghter-in-law, Tina Smith of Virginia Beach, Virginia; sister, Alma Duke of Savannah, Georgia; three brothers, Elmore Rawls of Pompano Beach , Florida, William Rawls and Johnny Rawls, both of Washington, DC; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grand children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service for Elizabeth Mitchell will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Tremont Temple Baptist Church, 11100 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Alphonso C. Piper, Sr. officiating. Interment, Oak Grove Cemetery. Reposing at the church Saturday from 9;00 am until hour of service.
