Eloise Sheldonia Davis

February 28, 1941 — July 10, 2012

EloisSheldonia Davis graced the earth with her presence on February 28, 1941 and made her transition from this place to her home on high on July 10, 2012. She was the blessing of the union between Ruth L. Praylo and Samuel Praylo in Savannah, GA. She is the oldest daughter of nine siblings that included one sister, Fredericka Praylo Lawrence and seven brothers, Sam Praylo (deceased), Henry Praylo (deceased), Alexander Brown, Gary Praylo, Christopher Praylo, Frederick Praylo, and Calvin Praylo (deceased).

She lived in Savannah until she graduated from Alfred E. Beach High School in 1961. Eloise was baptized at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church in Savannah, Georgia. In her later years, she continued her membership at Holy Family in Washington, D.C. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Ordell Davis on January 9, 1971. She enjoyed gainful employment at the Post Office for over thirty years.

Eloise loved to travel. She lived in New York City for brief time where she worked at the Port Authority. She resided in Panama for a couple of years as well. She made her way to our Nation's Capital in 1974. She was always active in the surroundings of her new community. She was an avid bowler and a remarkable seamstress. Her beloved daughter, Stephanie, proved to be her top model for many of her fabulous creations. She loved her dogs and every where she went, was shadowed by her Rottweiler, Cyclops. An extremely vivacious spirit, Mrs. Eloise was full of life and stayed active with the likes of Zumba classes with her daughter and friends. She also enjoyed tennis lessons, roller skating at the school skate parties, and was usually the only mother skating on the floor with the kids.

Eloise proved to be a mama to more than just her bonr children. She was mama to her children's friends as well.

She is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Nicole Davis; two sons, Omar Martin Davis, and Anthony Brown; two dauthers-in-law, LaShone Davis and Kim Brown; four grandchildren, Kyla Brown, Tonie Grady, April Brown and Nicholas McKinny; five great grandchildren, Mike Grady, Jr., Ethan Grady, Jazmine Mohammad, Tseday and Amir Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
