Mr. Ernest Palmer 96 passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Ernest Palmer was born August 22, 1917 in Sylvania, GA to the late Percy and Elizabeth Palmer. He was educated in Screven County, GAand retired from the Savannah Sugar Refinery after 40+years of service. On February 7, 1938 at the age of 20 he married the love of his life Edith Young to this union 6 children was born. Ernest was a faithful member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church for 60+years. He served with great dedication as Cheif Emeritus of the usher board, Trustee Board, Finance Committee and church Treasure until his health failed. Preceded in death by his wife Edith Y. Palmer, daughter Ernestine Greene and son-in-law Enoch Mitchell, Jr., brother Raymond Palmer sister:Cora Shefield, Ann Mae Thompson. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Peralene Mitchell; four sons, Willie(Dorthy), James(Shirley), Joseph(Jackie), Lamar(Linda) and Charles Green; one adopted daughter, Shirley Hendrix; 1-Sister Mary Thompkin, 4 sister-in-laws, Lillie Mae Palmer, Mary Lou Cook, Pearlene Garvin, and Callie Williams; one brother-in-law, James Gains Sr., Godchildren, Paulette Baxter and Rasheen Dorsey, 21 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 32 graet great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 11am Wednesday July 2, 2014 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church 202 fair Street Interment Magnolia Memorial Gardens.
