Mrs. Ernestine Gilmore, 92, passed into eternal rest on Monday, May 4, 2009n at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was a native of White Oak, Georgia, but later moved to Savannah at an early age. She later moved to New York where she lived and worked as a nurse at Methodist Hospital until she retired. She returned to Savannah in 1975. She was a member of Miller Inner City United Methodist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Mrs. Ruth P. Moore; seven grandchildren, Robert J. Moore Jr. (Linda) of Andover, Massachusetts, Brenda Hall of Savannah, GA; Doris Y. Martin, Gainsville, FL, Jesse N. Moore (Millie, of Brunswick, GA, Terry J. Moore (Media)of Venice, FL, Ernestine I. Singleton (Joe)of Savannah, GA and Ruthe Ann Parker (Stacey), of Bethlehem, GA; thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Mr. John Chance of Stone Mountain, GA, Dr. Boston Chance of Queens, NY; four sisters, Mrs. Netherlie Brown of Mt. Vernon, NY, Mrs. Vivian Armstead of Bronx, NY, Mrs. Ann Carroll of Savannah, GA, Mrs. Charly Mae Jackson, of Atlanta, GA; a special cousin, Eula Mitchell, NC; and a host of very loving nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ernestine Gilmore will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, MAy 9, 2009 at Miller Inner City United Metodist Church, 2401 Elgin Street, wit Pastor Antonie Walker, officiating. Interment: Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Savannah, GA. Visitation: 10:00 AM, at the church until hour of service. Reposing at the Church from 9:00 AM. The funeral procession will leave from 1406 E. 38th Street.
