Eva Mae was born January 13, 1913, in Blackshear, Georgia to Samuel Lee and Essie Williams White. She was the third born of 5 siblings, Mr. Coutral White, Mr. Wardell White, Mrs. Susan Berrien and Mr. Samuel White, Jr., who preceded her in death.
Mae was educated in the public schools of Savannah, Georgia. Later she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Georgia State Industrial College, which is now known as Savannah State University. She taught in the public school systems of Statesboro, Georgia and the Chatham County School Systems until her retirement from Robert W. Gadsden Elementary School. After retirement Mae taught Adult Education at Richard Arnold High School.
Mae met and married Mr. Theodore A. Roberts on October 21, 1938. Mae and Ted shared many happy and memorable years together until his death.
As a child, Mae joined Asbury United Methodist Church. She was actively involved in the following: Children’s/Youth Ministry, Sunday School Teacher, United Methodist Women, the Finance Committee, the Church United Administrative Council of Asbury and a diligent Class Leader. On Sunday, January 13, 2013, Mae celebrated her 100th birthday with her Church Family, where she was presented with special honors for her love and dedication.
Mae was actively involved in her community. She was a member of The Raggedy Ann’s Bridge Club, the Hollywood Ladies Club, the Waldoffetts, N.A.A.C.P. and the Cann Park Neighborhood Association.

Hymes, Sr. (Lynnette), Mrs. Althair Helen Martin of Brunswick, Georgia, Mrs. Stephanie Johnson (Joseph), Mrs. Vicky Briggs, Haiti, Mrs. Lavances Givens of Atlanta, Georgia, Mrs. Annette Gordon (Ralph) of Richmond, Virginia, Maude Lucky of Richmond , Virginia, Pat Gailes of Bronx, New York, her Dedicated Care Givers - Mrs. Zenobia Sexton, Mrs. Marsha Scott and Ms. Colleen Ford, along with a host of other relatives dear friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Roberts will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from Asbury United Methodist Church, 1201 Abercorn Street. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery. Reposing at the church from 9:00 AM until hour of service.
