Frances Louise Smith Patton, 90, of Savannah, went home to be with her Lord and
Savior on March 27, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years,
Bobby R. Patton Sr.; father, Joseph Edgar Smith; mother, Vergie Smith; brothers, Robert
(Bob) Smith (Daisy), Lloyd Smith (Frances), Russell Smith (Mary), George Harold Smith
(Linda); sisters, Mary Smith Mitchell (Richard), Lois Smith Chassereau (Horace); half
siblings Lucille (Bo) Smith Herndon, Cot Smith, Fred W. Smith, Henry Rufus Smith;
grandson Jacob Strickland. She is survived by her son, Bobby R. Patton Jr. (Jacque) and
daughter, Deborah Greene (Kevin); brother, Joseph (Jake) E. Smith (Carolyn); sister,
Dorothy (Dot) Smith Cope (Robert); grandchildren, Bobby R. Patton III (Elizabeth),
Brandon M. Patton, Megan A. Meeks (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Eleanor Marie
Patton, Reagan Anne Patton; and many nephews and nieces.
Born and raised in Grays, South Carolina, Frances received her Bachelor of Education
from Lander College in 1954 and later received her Master of Education from
Armstrong State College. She invested in the children of Chatham County for over 30
years as a 4th grade school teacher. Frances was a dedicated wife and mother and
lavished love on her grandchildren through special treats, meals, and her gift as a “ninja
sale shopper”. She loved flowers and gardening. Frances loved the Lord and was a
long time member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia. An entire book
could not contain all the special memories and examples of her life of service and
giving.
We rejoice knowing that you are at home in heaven and you are at peace. We miss you
