F.M. Taylor, Sr. 81 of Thunderbolt, GA. died Monday June 29, 2009 at Hospice Savannah after courageous battle with colon cancer.
The Family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday evening July 1, 2009 at the Bonaventure Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 11am Thursday July 2, 2009 in the Bonaventure Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Grady Taylor of Whitemarsh Island Baptist Church will be officiating followed by graveside services at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens conducted by Pastor Marshall Ray of Thunderbolt Baptist Church.
Francis M. Taylor was born April 20th, 1928 near Baxley in Appling County GA to the late Francis W. Taylor and Jennie Deen Taylor Medders, and was raised by his mother and grandparents, the late Martin Miles Deen and Julia McDonald Deen.
Francis was also preceded in death by his four sisters, three brothers, and his only son, Francis ‘Marty’ Taylor, Jr. of Marathon, FL, and his special nephew Donnie Meadows of Tallahassee, FL.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 33 years, Betty Lamb Burke Taylor, Of Thunderbolt, GA., two daughters, Sandra Burke O’ Connell of Savannah, GA., and Pam and Danny Hatchell of Thomasville, GA., three grandchildren, Michael and Staci O’Connell Ravita of Wilmington Island, GA., Danny and Jennifer Hatchell, and Eugene and Mindy Hatchell Pierce, both of Thomasville, GA.
The love of his life were his great-grandchildren; Victoria and Lauren Ravita, Grace and Claire Mae Hatchell, Luke and Caroline Pierce. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
He was a veteran of the US Coast Guard and a retired member of Local #256, having worked in construction for many years. He also was an ordained Baptist minister having been a pastor at several churches in southeast Georgia.
Francis was a member of Thunderbolt Baptist Church and Attended Whitemarsh Island Baptist Church.
Danny Hatchell, Jr., Michael Ravita, Eugenge Pierce, Terryl Saalmann, David Saalmann, and Greg Prysock will be serving as Casketbearers. Honorary Casketbearers are Jurgen ‘Jaye’ Saalmann, David Prysock, and Danny Hatchell, Sr.
Bonaventure Funeral Home is in charge with arrangements.
