Frank Eugene Glover, "Little Papa John", was born May 29, 1934 to the late Victoria Moultrie-Glover on St. Helena Island, South Carolina.
At the age of 12, Frank accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized by the late Reverend Daegan at Israelite Missionary Baptist Church. He was dedicated and committed in service to the Lord. On December 10, 1958, he responded to the call to Deaconship at Israelite Missionary Baptist Church .
Frank was educated in the Chatham County School System and graduated from Alfred Ely Beach High School, Class of 1961. He answered the call to defend and protect our country as an enlisted man in the United States Navy proudly serving during the Korean
War.
After his years of military service , Frank attended trade school at Savannah Vocational-Technical School for automobile repair and Savannah State College to develop the craft of brick masonry, a profession that he mastered and worked in as a subcontractor for over four decades. On September 20, 1958, Frank was joined in Holy Matrimony to Rosa Brown. From this union six children were born.
Little Papa John had a life long love for golf. His dedication and commitment to the game began as a caddy on the local municipal golf course and extended throughout his life. Among his cherished friends are the Senior Strikers, who shared his love for the sport.
On June 16, 2016, Frank was called from labor to eternal rest.
He was preceded in death by: his devoted wife of 49 years; parents; stepfather, John ("Papa John") Jackson; sister, Rutha Mae Jurgenson; and brother, Arthur Glover.
Frank leaves to cherish his memories: two daughters, Rose Marie Hall of Atlanta, GA and Theresa Fields (Barry) of Coolidge, GA; four sons, Dr. Frank E. Glover, Jr. (Marsha) of Albany, GA, John David Glover(Cynthia) of Savannah, GA, Charles Ashley Glover, Sr. (Brenda) of Cordele, GA and Richard William Glover of Savannah, GA; grandchildren; Danielle Nicole, Frank Eugene III, Marshall Jackson, Charles Ashley, Jr., Victoria Rosa, Adrienne Johnnae, Quentessia, Madison Noelle and Mason William; sister, Viola Mitchell (William); sister-in-law, Gloria Inabinett (Luke); brother-in-law, Ralph Lovett, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 24, 2016 at Israelite Missionary Baptist Church, 220 East 31st Street. Interment, Oak Grove Cemetery. Reposing at the Church, Friday 9 A.M. until hour service. Visitation will be held Thursday, 7-8 P.M. at Church.
