George P. Miles, 3 months short of his 90th birthday, died Monday, August 10, 2015 at Hospice of Savannah, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Savannah and a life – long resident of Pooler.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Louella Smith Miles and his second wife of 17 years, Althea Green Miles, his youngest son, Rev. Mike Miles at 47 years of age.
He was a member of Savannah Holy Church of God since 1952, and was a member of the Senior Men’s Sunday School Class. He was the town barber in Pooler (Miles Barber Shop) for 23 years. He enjoyed retirement life for almost 30 years. He enjoyed vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains, spending time with his grands, working in his shop, and his favorite pastime, going to the Mall.
He is survived by a son, Ronnie (Jane) Miles of Savannah, daughter in law, Pat Miles of Ellabell, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 3 step daughters, Phyllis (Donnie) Tyler, of Savannah, Joene Owen of Smyrna, Ga., Sandy (David) Butler of Savannah, 9 step grandchildren, & 17 step great grandchildren.
Visitation: 10 a.m.- 11 a.m. Friday at Bonaventure Funeral Home, with Funeral Service to follow at 11 a.m., with Rev. Ryan Ralston, Rev. Ronnie Miles, and Rev. Shane Holcombe, officiating.
Interment: Hillcrest West Cemetery.
