George “Jim” Ellison Swinford, 76, passed away on March 29 at home. He is preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Lorraine Rezansoff Swinford, his father, George Sr., his mother, Flora May King, and his brother Daniel Swinford.
He is survived by his wife, of 17 years, Carol Risvold Swinford. His daughter, Vicki Swinford McIntyre, step daughter, Laura Risvold Abbott, stepson Larry Risvold, and his sisters, Sandra Pepper and Sheree Lyn Harkins. Grand-daughters Helen McIntyre, Hannah Abbott and Carolyn Abbott, Mindy Galante, Grand-sons Matthew Risvold, Brian Abbott, and Logan Abbott. Great Grandson, Parker Abbott.
Jim was born in the town of Ingham, North Queensland, Australia, on 21 August 1943. He entered the Air Force in 1962 as an aviation engine mechanic. After leaving the Air Force, he attended Clemson University. Jim was a teacher for the first half of his career, and then worked in the automotive industry. He retired in Savannah, Georgia in 2000.
Memorial service for Mr. George E. Swinford will be held 3pm Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Chapel Interment Private.
