Hattie V. Garvin

June 20, 1924 — February 5, 2018

Hattie Virginia Garvin was born to the late Randolph and Hazel Kirkland on June 20, 1924 at Harlem Hospital in New York, New York. She relocated to Philadelphia, PA at an early age where she was educated and later served in the Philadelphia school system. On March 20, 1976, she was joined in holy matrimony to Deacon James L. Garvin They were married for 26 loving years. He Preceded her in death in November of 2002. In her earlier years in Philadelphia she was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. After relocating to Hilton Head Island, SC they became members of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where she served for over 30 years. She also joined First African Baptist Church in Levy SC in 2014. She was the eldest sister of Randolph Kirkland Jr. who preceded her in death and Marguerite Somner who resides in Philadelphia, PA. She was a loving mother to her children.Five who preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories Agnes Kirkland, David Dozier, Earline Osborne, Sandra Deloach (Sidney), Patricia Latson, and Deborah Middleton(Eric); one daughter in-law, Christine Kirkland; one sister-in-law, Christine Martin and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and beloved family members and special friends Dorothy Strong-Bacon, Robert McCutchen and Irene Harshaw.
