Hattie Harris

August 10, 1944 — June 19, 2008

Mrs. Hattie S . Harris, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2008. She was born in Allendale, SC, but later moved to Savannah, GA, where she remained until her death. She was a member of St. James Baptist Church for most of her life. Mrs. Harris was the daughter of the late Mr. Clifford Sanders, Sr. and Mrs. Janie Badger Sanders of Savannah, GA. She was employed for many years by Memorial Medical Center and later was employed by, Azalealand Nursing Home. At the time of her death, she was employed by Best Western Hotel. Those who worked with her knew that she exemplified excellent work ethic throughout her career. As a mother of five, she gave completely of herself and loved unconditionally. She spent her years of retirement caring for her precious mother, selflessly. She also demonstrated compassion and showed concern for everyone who came in contact with her. She leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Mrs- Janie Badger Sanders; five children, Mrs. Sharon Sanders-Funnye of Buffalo Grove, IL, Ms. Michelle Denise Harris of Savannah, GA, Mr. Joseph Nathaniel Harris of Savannah, GA, and Mrs. Angela Patrice Kassa and Ms. Adriane Renee Price of Wadsworth, IL,. She also leaves behind a brother, Mr. Clifford Sanders, Jr., and two sisters Mrs. LouEllen Duncan and Mrs. Alethia Georges, all of Savannah, GA. Preceding her in death are two sisters: Mrs. Bernice Cutter Shepphard of Decatur, GA, and Mrs. Jannie L. Davis of Roosevelt, NY. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three aunts, and a host of nieces; nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 25, 2008 from 6-8 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday June 26, 2008 at 12 noon from St. James Baptist Church, 1511 Augusta Avenue. Interment will follow in Magnolia Memorial Gardens. Reposing at the church Thursday, 10:00 am until the hour of service.
