Henry M Sherry, 88, of Ft Walton Beach, FL passed on December 7, 2013 at his daughter’s home in GA with family, friends, & beloved pointer, Sunny at his side.
Mr. Sherry was born on December 8, 1924 in Savannah, GA to Henry & Gladys Greene Sherry. He was raised at Bethesda Boys Orphanage from 1928-1939, along with his “100 brothers.”

On his 17th Birthday in 1941, Mr. Sherry joined the US Navy. He proudly served his country in WW II & Korean War before retiring as a Chief Petty Officer in 1965.
Mr. Sherry settled in Ft Walton Beach where he resided for the next 50 yrs. He later retired from Vitro Services. He then began a new career selling real-estate. In his spare time, he volunteered with hospice & was a member of the Moose & Elks Lodge of Okaloosa County.
Mr. Sherry’s interest included family, fishing, bird hunting, dancing, telling tales, and making those around him smile, as he never met a stranger.
Mr. Sherry was preceded in death by his Uncle, James T. Greene & beloved sisters, Adele and Ann.
Survivors include his son, Michael Sherry of Destin, FL. His daughter & son in law, Colleen Ann & Takatoshi Yamamto of Acworth, GA. Grandsons, Brian & wife Michelle Powers Jenkins of Smyrna, TN. Austin Sherry of Nashville, TN. Granddaughter, Michelle Jenkins of Cartersville, GA. Great Grandchildren, Michael & Blake Henry Jenkins of Smyrna, TN. He leaves many nieces & nephews. Special mention of longtime companion, Shirley Smith & her family of Fort Walton Beach.
Funeral Services will be held at Bonaventure Funeral Home 2520 Bonaventure Rd Savannah, GA 31404. On Wednesday December 11th, at 2:00 P.M.. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Bethesda Academy, 9520 Ferguson Ave, Savannah, GA 31406.
