Hilda May Davies passed away Thursday February 21st under the excellent care of Hospice Savannah at Savannah Commons. May lived a long and beautiful life. She was in her 101st year, and recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by friends and family.
May was born in the East End of London, England and was the eldest of 8 children. May and her family lived through World War II and suffered the loss of their home which was devastated by the blast of a V1 rocket.
May came to America in 1957 and lived in Savannah for the remainder of her days. She was preceded in death by her loving husband George and enjoyed a wonderful marriage lasting 61 years. Surviving are her three sons Alan (Lois) Tom (Judy) and Michael (Pamela). May had eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a sister, Queenie, who lives in Perth Australia.
An amazing woman, loved respected and revered by all who knew her. She was an inspiration to her family and imparted the traits necessary to lead a good and fruitful life. Hard working, never complaining, May was cutting her own grass up into her 90's, living alone until age 98. She entered Savannah Commons where she finished her life with dignity and love.
