Mrs. Ida Mae Grant Hamilton, 87, passed away Tuesday May 17, 2011 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Ida Mae Grant Hamilton was born May 25, 1923, in Bluffton, South Carolina to the late Carrie Grant Bruin and Lester Mosley. At An early age, Ida Mae joined Campbell Chapel A.M.E. Church. Ida Mae's church involvements consist of participating with the Y.P.D., D.M.C., Sunday School and Benevolent Association.
Ida Mae was educated at the Beafort County Schools. She achieved her professional career from Day Care for Children. Her work history consisted of working as a Day Care Provider and she was presented with employee of the month and the year. Ida was blessed in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Benjamin "Bennie" Hamilton. She moved to Savannah, Georgia where she loved and cared for her mother and family. Her hobbies consisted of swimming, cooking, shopping, and helping the community.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Ida T. Kittles of Savannah, GA; son, Leroy J. Grant "L.J."; daughter-in-law, Carrie Grant, both of New York; son-in-law, James P. Kittles of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Corinthia T. Ford, James P. Kittles, Jr. "Bubba", both of Savannah, GA, Joyce, Jermaine, Charlene and Corey Grant, all of New York; great-grandchildren, Kaiona Sweatt, Kamora and Kamya Ford, all of Savannah, GA, Darnell, Jazzmin, Adlie, Chase and Layla Grant; two great-great grandchildren; two special cousins, Lydia Fuller Hawkins and Jacob Synder "J.J."; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Ida Mae Hamilton will be held Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 11:00 am from Campbell Chapel A.M.E. Church, 25 Boundary Street, South Carolina. Interment will follow in Buck Island Cemetery in Bluffton, South Carolina.
