Ilene Annetta Wylds, age 87, went to be in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Heritage Healthcare of Savannah.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at 2:00 PM, from the Pooler First Baptist Church with Rev. Otis Hill officiating. Jimmy Wylds, Ricky Wylds, Tommy Swint, Ted Sprouse, Allen Teter, Graham Martin will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Wylds will be taken to Starling Funeral Home in Harlem, GA, where the family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, February 15, 2011, from 7-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 16, 2011, from the chapel of Starling Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Bellevue Cemetery in Grovetown, Ga.
Ilene was born on December 2, 1923, in Great Falls, MT to the late Inga Myre and Adolph Torkelson, who were the first to arrive through Ellis Island. She was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church in Augusta, a homemaker and a member of Pooler First Baptist Church. “She always had a Green thumb and loved to garden”, her family said. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, Alvin T. Wylds, Jr., daughter, Sherry Stouffer; brothers and sisters, Ole, Hazel, Melvin, Anna, Helen, and a son-in-law; Joel McGlohon.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law; Sandy W. McGlohon of Savannah, Karen Lane and husband Dick of Lakeland, Fl; Debra King and husband Tony of Spartanburg, SC; Grandchildren, Ricky Lane, Kim Ellison, David Lane, Julie King, Andrew King, Traci Chlan and 10 Great-Grandchildren; Honorary Grandchildren, Ernie and Melissa Gainey; Honorary Great Grandchildren, Anthony, Jacob, Taylor, Sarah-Louise, Nicolas, Christian and Noah.
The family will be receiving friends from 6-8 PM, Monday, February 14, 2011 Bonaventure Funeral Home.
