JAMES CARLTON BROWN age 95, died peacefully Saturday May 23, 2009 at Hospice Savannah.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday May 26, 2009 from 6 to 8pm in the chapel of Bonaventure Funeral Home. A graveside rites with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2009 at 11am in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. Everett Tumblin will officiate.
Mr. Brown was born October 11, 1913 in Alamo, (Wheeler County) Georgia to the late John Harvey and Mattie Lou Cooper Brown. An Honorable Discharged U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, Mr. Brown was a former deacon and member of Morningside Baptist Church & Riverside Baptist Church. Mr. Brown retired from International Paper (formerly Union Camp) after 34 years of service.
He was predeceased by his parents and his wife, the late Ada Elkins of Savannah. He is survived by his son: Carlton (C.O.) Brown & wife Carol of Savannah, his grandchildren Barry Brown & wife Shannon of Dacula, GA, Jeff Brown & wife Brandy of Savannah, and his great grandchildren: Emily, William & Matthew of Dacula, GA and Cassidy & Madison of Savannah. He is also survived by a step brother Cleon Brown of McRae, GA and preceded in death by his brother Paul , sisters Myrtice Wynn & Carol Wilkes and several step brothers and sisters.
Bonaventure Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
