Mr. James E. Grant Sr. was a native of Savannah, GA who passed away on September 18, 2008 at Candler Hospital after a long illness. He was educated in Savannah Chatham County Public Schools, and graduated from Savannah State College. He earned his Masters of Science Degree from Bradley University. He was a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran. James was a teacher in the Savannah Chatham County Public School system and various other school systems in GA. After retiring from teaching, he became a very successful businessman and established J & M Electric Co. He is survived by: his wife, Myrtle G. Grant; three sons, Ronald (Dassie) Grant Sr., Stephen Frazier, and Donald E. Grant of Savannah; two daughters, Jeannine Jones of South Jordan, Utah, and Verborah Reeves of Teaneck, New Jersey; one brother, Alexander (Dorothy) Grant of Savannah; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at 1:00 pm at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1201 Abercorn St., Savannah, GA 31405. Interment: Hillcrest Abbey West.
