Mr. James "Jimmy" Maxwell -Savannah- Mr. James "Jimmy" Maxwell, 66, entered eternal rest on Friday, April 13, 2007 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and later relocated to Savannah, GA. He was a 1958 graduate of Alfred E. Beach High School. In 1965, he joined the United States Army and diligently served for 15 years. In 1970, he resigned from his military duties and joined CIA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. He was employed at Union Camp and later joined Savannah Police Department. He served as an officer for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. James (Cleo) Maxwell, son, Mr. Shawn J. Maxwell, and a brother, Mr. Robert Maxwell. Survivors: wife, Josie Maxwell; one daughter, Gwendolyn (Corey) Ladson; four sons, Craig (Deidra) Maxwell, Yusef Maxwell, Bernard (Tina) Maxwell, Corey (Elmesha) Maxwell; three stepchildren, Nedra Thomas, Robert Cummings, Jr., Steven Cummings; one sister Grace (James) Saunders; three step-sisters, Mary Marshall, Lillie Mae Williams, Elizabeth Galloaway; one brother, Dr. George (Cheryl) Maxwell; one sister-in-law, Nelsonia (Julius) Green, a devoted ex-wife, Lisa Maxwell; thirty grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Services: 11am Friday at First African Baptist Church, 402 Treat St. Burial: Beaufort National Cemetery.
