James Patrick (Pat) Barbee, Sr., 67, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Bonaventure Funeral Home Chapel with Father Patrick O’Brien officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Charlie Petrea, Charles Davis, Craig Seabolt, Barry Petrea, Kurt Lewis and Brett Jurkovic serving as pallbearers.
Pat was born on December 1, 1944 in Newfoundland, Canada to the late Charles William Barbee and Beatrice Marie Barry Parker, who survives of Savannah. Pat proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Viet Nam conflict. He retired from CSX Railroad as a conductor after 42 years of service and was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors in addition to his mother are: his wife, Linda Gregory Barbee of Savannah; son and daughter-in-law: James Patrick “Lil Pat” Barbee, Jr. and wife Megan of Pooler; step-children, Terri B. Sherman and husband Gregg of Savannah, Lent Buchan and wife Leslie and Jamie Buchan of Pembroke; Grandchildren, James Patrick Barbee, III, Brooklyn Barbee, Colby Buchan, Kylie Buchan, Sterling Buchan and Nicholas Sherman; sisters and brothers-in-law, June M. Petrea and husband Jimmy of Savannah, Lynn B. Seabolt and husband Ray of Dallas, Charlene Curl and husband John of Savannah and Barbara Cook and husband George of New Jersey, and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
A Vigil service will be held at 5:00 pm, Friday, March 2, 2012 at Bonaventure Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 7:00 pm.
