John William Wohlert, age 78, Formerly of Edison, New Jersey and North Port, Florida, Died Sunday, December 27, 2009 in Port Charlotte, Florida.
The Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 4, 2010 from Bonaventure Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Ohsiek officiating. A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM Sunday, January 10 at Atlantic View Cemetery and Mausoleum in Manasquan, NJ.  Paul Benitz, Troy Nikola, Lawrence Nikola, Kyle Nikola, Daniel Wohlert, Eric Wilson, Ian Kirk, Joey Wohlert will be serving as casketbearers. The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, January 3, 2010 from 2:00-4:00 PM and from 7:00-9:00PM at the funeral home.
John was born in Iselin, New Jersey on October 9, 1931 to the late Albert Wohlert and Charlotte Robinson Wohlert. He was a member of Living Waters Lutheran church in North Port, Florida.
On January 6, 1951, John married, Lorraine Lauritsen Wohlert, who survives, and the couple would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary next month. John retired as a Diesel Mechanic with Tremley Point Industries.
Including his wife, survivors include their 7 children, Linda W. Benitz and husband William of Barnegat, New Jersey, June W. Nikola and husband Lawrence of Savannah, GA and Colts Neck, New Jersey, James Wohlert and wife Jo Ann of Savannah GA, Laura W. Kirk of Port Charlotte, Florida, Janet Wohlert and Fiancee Felix Roman of North Port, Florida, Laurence Wohlert of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, John W. Wohlert, Jr. and wife Lorraine of Indianapolis, Indiana. 18 Grandchildren, Paul Benitz, Charlotte High, Allison Quincannon, Troy Nikola, Jillisa Baum, Alana, Lawrence, Kyle Nikola, Ian and Samantha Kirk, Daniel, Jamie and Melissa Wohlert, Eric Wilson, Joey, John III, Julia and Owen Wohlert and 3 Great-Grandchildren, Treyce Quincannon, Brooke and Brex Baum, 2 Sisters, Betty W. Fitzgerald of Alta, CA, Dorothy W. Torchia of Camden, South Carolina and 2 Brothers, Henry Wohlert of Virginia, Albert Wohlert of Edison, New Jersey.
