“Johnny” John Nick Constantine, Sr., 91, of Savannah, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Habersham House surrounded by his family and under the care of Compassionate Care Hospice.
A native of Savannah, he was the son of the late Nick J. and Mersini K. Constantine. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Johnny had a strong work ethic; he started working at an early age for his father on his diary farm and later opened Johnny’s Market, on Ogeechee Road, which he ran for 31 years before retiring; following retirement he started driving his own Dump Truck which he drove for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 59 years, Katherine Murray Constantine; children, Pamela Helen Constantine and Frederick N. Constantine; also 5 sisters and a brother.
Survivors include his daughter, Katherine C. Ward; son, John N. Constantine, Jr.; grandchildren, Jim, Nick, Johnny, Gabriel, Matthew, Melissa, Ashley, Caitlin and Mary Elizabeth; great grandchildren, Tanner, Dylan, Liam, Savanna and Mary Grace; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel.
Funeral Service: 12:00 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Peter Hartman officiating.
Burial: Greenwich Cemetery.
