Julius Sorrells, 89, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, March 3rd, 2015 in Savannah, Georgia.
He was born in Covington, Georgia on July 23, 1925 to Oliver and Ethel Sorrells. He served in the U.S. Naval Air Force during World War II and afterward graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
He married Agnes Annette Franklin on August 29, 1953. They moved to Savannah in 1967, joining Bible Baptist Church where he served as a Bible study teacher and Deacon for many years. He retired from the Georgia Department of Labor in 1987.
Mr. Sorrells was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; brothers: Thomas, Cecil, and Terry Richardson; and sister, Lilly Reid. He is survived by his brother Homer Richardson; sons: Tommy (Debbie) and Timothy (Brenda); daughter Teresa Smith (Blake); four grandchildren, Navia Elliott, Danny Smith, Caitlin Smith, Kimberly Sorrells; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Bible Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 7th, 2015 at 10:00 am from Bible Baptist Church, the Reverend Herbert Hubbard officiating. Entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
