Keith Charles Vickers—known as “Swamp” and later simply as Dad and Grandpa died Friday at the age of 65. Keith worked at Union Camp/IP for 42 years before retiring in 2011. Keith had a love for cars, the majestic beauty of the mountains, and meeting new people. He never met a stranger…… Keith was the guy that would give you the shirt off his back if it would make your situation better. He loved to help people. That is what he did. He will be missed by all that ever had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sandra, his mother Marie, his two sisters, Karen Bedingfield and Kim Vickers, his two children, Bryan Vickers, and Alisha Maples, and 5 Grandchildren, Wesley Maples(22), Bailey Maples(15)Patrick Vickers(15)Nathan Vickers(13) and Sarah Maples(11).
Keith was dedicated and passionate about treatment for his autistic grandson Bailey Maples to make sure he received the life skills to become independent. In lieu of flowers, the family has set up an Endowment fund at Wells Fargo Bank. Reference Bailey Maples Endowment.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 2nd at 6:00 at Fairhaven Funeral Home located at Hodgson Memorial Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
