Lafayette Cope Sr.

June 16, 1919 — May 8, 2010

Mr. Lafayette Cope Sr., 90, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Candler Hospital.

He was a native of Stilson, GA, but later moved to Savannah, GA. He was an U.S. Army Veteran serving during World War II. He was employed by Georgia Regional Hospital. Mr. Cope was a member of Little Bryant Baptist Church where he served in the following capacities: Usher's Union, Sunday School Superintendent, on the Deacon Board, President of the Usher's Board, Vice President of the Usher's Union, and as a Sunday School Teacher.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Abner Cope (Sandra), and Lafayette Cope Jr. (Kathy); two daughters, Geneva Foy (John), and Fayetta Keye (Robert); special grandson, Anthony Cope (Rebecca); eighteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Lafayette Cope Sr., will be held 11:00 am Friday at Little Bryan Baptist Church, 509 East Gwinnett Street, Rev. Marvin L. Lloyd officiating. Interment: Cone Cemetery, Stilson, GA. Reposing at the church Friday from 9:00 am until hour of service.
