Laverne Coleman Sams was born on May 25, 1956 to Charles Mills Jr. and Betty Coleman in Savannah Georgia. She was preceded in death by her father Charles Mils Jr, Jessie Roberts husband and Taco pet-son. Laverne was educated in the school system of Chatham County. She began her Early Childhood Teaching career with the City of Savannah Summer Youth Work Program. Laverne was employed with the Equal Opportunity Authority Early Childhood Program, Parent and Children Development Services, and Wesley Community Center of Savannah Inc. where she held the title as Wesley's Camp Coordinator and Three Year Old Lead Teacher. She leaves to cherish her memories, a husband Terry Sams; a loving mother Betty Coleman; three sisters Angela Williams, Kim Coleman, Sylathia Bynes. two brothers Terry Coleman, Ronnie Coleman(Tammara).four aunts Alfredia Coxon, Patricia Blue, Johnie Mae Pugh, Rhetta Murray.four uncles Peter Scott(Marian),Elder Lawrence Bentley Sr.(Monica), Joseph Mills, Superintendent Willie Mills(Bernice Mills). one Godson Tremaine Williams. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Bonaventure Funeral Chapel Elder Lawrence Bentley officiating, Interment Greenwich Cemetery.
