On May 21, 1954 Lawrence Dean Terry was born to the late Dester and Thelma Terry in Savannah, GA. Lawrence accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church. He was educated in the Chatham County Public School System and graduated in 1973 from Sophronia Tompkins High School. At Tompkins he was an outstanding athlete in basketball and football, earning him a full scholarship at Savannah State University.
The West Savannah Community was very important to him. In the community he was known as "Mule", "Rasheen", 'Lawrence', or"Cowboy". To his family, he was known as " Roy". He was a coach for the Westside Whippers for many years and one of the original organizers of the "Homeboy Reunion"
In 1989, he met the love of his life, Deborah Chisholm and they were married on August 22, 1998.
On December 29, 2022, he was called home to eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dester and Thelma Terry, one brother Rev. James Terry Sr. and one sister, Mary E. Terry.
He leaves to cherish his memories: His loving and faithful wife, Deborah Terry
, two sons Ramone Givens and Darnell Chisholm. Two daughters, Takelia Golden and Kenya Terry. Three grandchildren, Aniyah Wilcox, Londyn Keith and Kali Keith. Two sisters Delores ( James) Collins and Laurine ( Kenneth) Wright. Three sister in laws, Betty( Perry) Bacon, Rose Jivens and Sadie Bostick. Three brother-in laws, Stanley Thomas ( Joanne) Alfred Chisholm, Glenn Chisholm and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
