Lillie Gadson

August 28, 1941 — May 19, 2011

Lillie Gadson, 69, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Mrs. Lillie Ruth Sanders-Gadson was born August 28, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Oliver & Mrs. Ruth Sanders in Raleigh, NC. She leaves us to go to God's peace and love. Our hearts may be burdened with sorrow but our comfort comes from knowing that she is happy.

Lillie moved to Savannah at an early age and attended Chatham County Public Schools. She was a 1960 graduate of Tompkins High School.

After high school, Lillie moved to Mahattan, NY where she had two children, Donald "Andre" Sanders (who preceded her in death) and Sabrina Schinnery-Baker. Lillie lived in NY many years where she owned and operated her own confectionary store. In 1981, Lillie returned to Savannah and became a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Deaconess Board until her illness.

She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Sabrina Nicole Schinnery-Baker (Calvin); uncle, Harmon Sanders; brother, Charlie Sanders; two sisters, Flora Sanders-Flewellen (Milton), and Cynthia Sanders (her baby sister); three grandchildren, Quinesha Schinnery-Rome (Vincent), Calvin Baker, Jr., Cam'Ron Baker; nieces Fatima McCoy, and Akila Garvin; nephews, Reginald Sanders, Yusef Sanders, Kareem Garvin, Oliver Sanders, and Edmond Sanders; and host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Ruth Sanders-Gadson, will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM from Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 101 East Lathorp Avenue. Interment, Woodsville Cemetery.
