Madeline Adele Gidel, 89, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 at Marsh View Senior Living in Savannah, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Donald Gidel Sr.; her father, Asa Sprunger; her mother Mabel Evelyn (Rice) Sprunger; and her brother, James Marshall Sprunger. She is survived by her son, Robert Gidel Jr. and his partner, David Hubert of Savannah; her brother, Robert Sprunger Sr. and sister-in-law Carol of Chicago; a niece, Susan (Sprunger) Strohl of Chicago; and nephews Kevin Curl of Las Vegas (NV), Mason Curl of Long Beach (CA), Shepherd Curl of Huntsville (AL), and Robert Sprunger Jr. of Chicago.
She attended Millikin University (Class of 1945) in Decatur, Illinois and received a Bachelor of Science degree. Originally from Illinois, she was a longtime resident of Alexandria, VA and Punta Gorda, FL before moving to Savannah in 2005, a short time after her husband passed away. She enjoyed playing bridge, tennis, golf, yachting, swimming, traveling with her husband, and taking many family trips.
