Mary Miller Brown, was born March 17, 1927 in Newington, Georgia. The beloved daughter of the late John Matthew Miller and Albertha Jackson Miller, Mary was the third child born to this union. She received her education in the Newington, Georgia public school system.
At an early age, Mary joined Cypress Pond Baptist Church in Newington, Georgia and was a faithful member until the Miller family moved to Savannah, Georgia. Mary became a member of South Valley Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend L.S. Aiken.
Mary met a young man who became the love of her life.. On October 9, 1943. William Henry Brown and Mary Miller were joined in Holy Matrimony in Savannah, Georgia. To this union, Mary and Henry were blessed with 13 children. Her 13th child, Eric, preceded her in death.
Mary later moved her membership to Antioch Holiness Church under the leadership of Elder W. Conyers. Faithfully she served on the Usher Board. Lead by the Holy Spirit, once again Mary transferred her membership to True Gospel Tabernacle Church where she served as one of the Church mothers under the leadership of Bishop J.H. Eady. She served faithfully until her health began to fail.
For a number of years Mary received loving care under the Elder Care Program, Sheila Spellman (family friend), Shirley Brown (daughter), Kaujee Carroll (grandson) and TiKishia McCombs (granddaughter).
On April 19, 2013, Mary Brown slept away peacefully at home.
She leaves to cherish her memories: 12 Children; 44 grandchildren; 71 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Growing in Grace Ministries, 1517 Staley Avenue, Pastor Rodney Cutter, officiating. Interment, Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Reposing at the Church from 9:00 am until hour of service.
