- SAVANNAH- Deacon Melvin (Ba-Wash) Washington Sr., entered into eternal peace on Wednesday morning, August 8, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Ridgeland, SC, and lived most of his adult life in Richmond Hill, GA. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Richmond Hill, GA where he served on the Deacon Board. He was the husband of the late Rebecca Hollis-Washington. Survivors are: special companion and friend, Ms. Miriam Jenkins, Ridgeland, SC; five sons, Melvin Washington Jr. (Albertha), Michael Hollis (Michelle), both of Savannah, GA, Steven Hollis (Artine), Upper Marlboro, MD, Kenneth Washington (Vel), Barry Washington (Sharon), both of Richmind Hill, GA; two daughters, Andrea Hollis-Johnson (Willie/Randy), Richmond Hill, GA, and Phyllis Porter ( William/Nick), Upper Marlboro, MD; eleven grandchildren; twenty one great grands; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and family friends
