Myrtice Irene Cox Cowart, 86, of Savannah, died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015 at Candler Hospital.
She was born in Waycross, Ga., and was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Henry A. Cowart, her parents, Thomas Cox and Mary Beverley Cox, a son, Larry Cowart, 3 sisters, Helen Aldridge, Estelle Lee, and Urssey Cox, 2 brothers, Jim Cox and David Cox..
She had formerly worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company for10 years, and then worked for the Chatham County School System, as a School Bus Driver for 25 years.
She was a member of Silk Hope Baptist Church, and was an accomplished Artist, who painted many lovely pictures, she was an accomplished musician, who played at Nursing Homes in Savannah, and Richmond Hill with her late husband, Rev. Henry A. Cowart. She formed a Blue Grass Music Group, that played for various Senior Citizens Groups, and she also sang in a trio on the radio. Myrtice was loved by all.
She is survived by 2 sons, William Joseph Morris, Jr., of Savannah, Ga; and Charles Cowart of The Villages, in Orlando, Fla; a daughter, Beverly A. Yawn (Dale) of Savannah, Ga; 3 grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 10- 11 a.m. Thursday at Bonaventure Funeral Home.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Bonaventure Funeral Home, with Rev. Jonathan Phillips, officiating.Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park - East.
