Nancy vonWaldner Smith, age 58, of Savannah passed away Monday, October 6th, 2014 at her residence.
A native of Savannah, she was the daughter of William vonWaldner and Martha Davis vonWaldner. Nancy was a Catholic who loved reading, gardening and cooking. She was loved by all who knew her and was thought of as the "mother of the neighborhood."
Preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sally vonWaldner Williams, her brothers, John Davis vonWaldner, Sr., and Patrick Anthony vonWaldner, and her granddog Bear; she is survived by her husband Arte Smith, daughter Kimberly "Kimbers" Smith, son, Chris Kennedy (Sara), adopted son, Michael Edge (Amanda); a sister, Judy vonWaldner Sapp (Kary), two brothers, William Frank vonWaldner (Connie) & James Michael vonWaldner; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Kennedy, Logan Kennedy, and Megan Kennedy; special friends & caregivers, Wanda Morris and her son R.J.; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 8th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bonaventure Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 9th, at 1:30 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Monseigneur William Oliver O'Neill officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park East.
