Polly R. NeSmith Usry, 92, of Pooler, Ga., died Monday, June 15, 2015 at her residence under the care of Compassionate Care Hospice.
She was born in Bulloch County, Ga., and was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Usry, her son Joe S. Usry, and her parents, James Raiford Nesmith and Ethel Williams NeSmith.
She was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church, and was a former member of Avondale Baptist Church in Savannah, until it closed, where she taught Sunday School, and was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Church.
She was a member of the Pembroke Senior Citizens Group, the Effingham County Senior Citizens, and the Springfield Senior Citizens. Her hobby was making quilts and giving them away to her family and friends.
She is survived by 3 sons, Earl F. Usry, Dahlonega, Ga; Larry R. Usry, Sr. (Sue) of Metter, Ga., and Mickey L. Usry of Metter, Ga.; 3 daughters, Linda Mongold of Minneola, Fla; Dorothy Barron (Rev. George Barron) of Ellabell, Ga; and Betty Strub (Robert), of Pooler, Ga; 2 brothers, William Clyde NeSmith, Hopewell, Virginia; and Charles Edward NeSmith, of Ellabell, Ga; a sister, Mary Lee Howard, of Bloomingdale, Ga; 20 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Bonaventure Funeral Home, 2520 Bonaventure Road, Savannah, Ga 31404.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of the Bonaventure Funeral Home, with Rev. George Barron, officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
