Rainey Victoria

September 8, 1925 — February 27, 2012

Rainey Victoria (Lou) Greene was born to the late Missionary Arrie Mae Greene-Bradley and Amos Green in Cordell, GA both of whom preceded her in death. She was the only daughter with two brothers, Fred L. Williams. Sr. (Annie Mae) and James Green, whom also preceded her in death.

She was united in Holy Matrimony on December 21, 1942 to Ernest Hubert Greene, Sr. The coulpe was blessed with four children, Ernest Hubert Greene, Jr. (Alma C.), Hartense Ernestine Jones-Greene, Edward Jerome Greene, Sr., whom preceded her in death, and Cordelia Denise Lopez-Greene.

Missionary Rainey V. Greene accepted Christ at a very early age. Rainey along with her mother and two brothers moved to Savannah, Georgia in 1932. Rainey Greene and her mother were what amounted to some of the first members at the Church of God In Christ in Savannah, Georgia located in Yamacraw Village in 1941 which became Solomon Temple.

In 1971 Missionary Brantley was the founder of Little Prayer Mission Church of God In Christ. Missionary Rainey V. Greene was one of the co-founders. She remained an active member until she was unable to attend. Missionary Greene humbly served the Lord in many capacities of the church and community of Savannah, Georgia. She spent many hours visiting churches around the city, supporting their activities while worshiping and praising God. Her sweet face, loving smile and a word from the Lord brought joy and comfort to the sick and shut in. She was a teacher who firmly believed that it was her calling to go into the world and teach of Love and the Saving Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Missionary Greene was a daycare provider for many of Savannah's children in the Greene's home serving over 200 children from 1948 thru 1979.

Missionary Rainey V. Greene is survived by: husband, Ernest H. Greene; son, Ernest H. Greene, Jr. (Alma C.); two daughters, Hartense E. Jones-Greene and Cordelia Denise Lopez-Greene; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many, good friends who remember her for her love of God.

Funeral service for Mrs. Rainey L. Greene will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Little Prayer Mission Church of God In Christ, 1335 Wheaton Street. Interment, Woodville Cemetery. Reposing at the church from 11:00 AM until hour of service.
