Raymond J. Varney, 69, of Savannah, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was born in Savannah, and was a graduate of Savannah High School. He attended the Community College of the Air Force, and retired from the United States Air Force, after 22 years of honorable service. He also retired from the City of Savannah.
He was preceded in death by Ray & Geraldine Varney, Darlene Tyree and Carol Piorkowski.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Petrea Varney; sons Troy and Kimberly Varney, Tony Varney and Ann Kerkman; grandsons, Parker and Jesse Varney; sister, Joan Duncan and beloved pet, Chip. From the Petrea family, 7 brother-in-laws and 1 sister-in-law; many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 at Baker-McCullough Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah.
Funeral Services: 1 p.m., Monday, at Baker-McCullough Funeral Home, in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with interment in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
